I saw an add in our local University Liberal Rag (read:student newspaper) for
the Mac Classic and Mac ci (or whatever it is called, might be the si). Anyway
the new lower prices were this:
Classic:
~1400 new with 2 megs and hard drive
~900 with trade in of mac equipment: Plus or 512E must not be cracked or have
any engraving, keyboard and mouse, manuals, ORIGINAL system disk
Si:
~3000 new
~2000 with trade in, I don't remember the model, but same restrictions apply
also with trade in of mac printer or Ibm printer with all cables and knobs
and same casing restrictions, oh and manuals too.
I don't know about original boxes being needed, but it would seem like they
would want them anyway.
Keep in mind I am doing this from memory, the prices might not be exact, I was
just trying to remember the first digits of the price.
Also, all equipment was subject to approval of acceptence by the dealer, which
means the above equipment could be rejected for any reason and you will have to
pay full price.
Note that this cuts out many of the new computer buyers who do not have mac
equipment just sitting around waiting to be traded. Hence Apple's new lower
prices will probably not even entice most people. (who would want to give up
their computer to buy another one when they can get a whole new system for less
and keep their old one also!)
