The following appeared on rec.aviation regarding this same "humanitarian
request". Who can you believe any more?

In article <1586@beguine.UUCP> rslugg@uncmed.med.unc.edu () writes:

HOLD IT. YOU'RE FOUR YEARS TOO LATE.
According to our local paper, Craig is 11 (ELEVEN) now, has received some
16 million cards, and IS in the 1991 edition of the Guiness record book.
Since August the post office has been RECYCLING (not even counting) mail for
him. The article appeared in the paper because somehow the original plea
letters are being re-circulated (with a lot of help from folks who aren't
checking out their sources.) Let's be a bit more responsible on a world-wide
net. OK?.
