I've faced the same choice: music career and no money, vs. technical career and no time for music. I resolved this dilemma by playing part-time, and feel ok about it these days. I play bass in an "oldies" (50's and 60's) band, and 5-string banjo in a string band (traditional Irish and American music). The rock band only plays on Sunday nights, and the sring band plays whenever there's a gig (once or twice a month in warm weather). This allows me to keep my "day job" going, and still play some music. For those of you out there with the same problem, DON'T GIVE UP THE MUSIC just because you can't do it full time! Keep working at finding the right band or situation - you never know when it will come along. And DON'T SELL YOUR AX! -- Carl Yaffey AT&T Bell Laboratories Room 1H143 6200 E.
