Has anyone gotten Spectre to read a Mac hard disk (that is, a hard disk drive that was formatted on a Mac). Or, has anyone gotten a Mac to be able to read and write to a partition formatted with Spectre?? I have a SyQuest drive and I'd like to be able to FTP things directly to my hard drive connected to a Mac on campus and then be able to use the files with my ST running Spectre, but Spectre doesn't seem to want to read Mac cartridges. Is there a way around this? Is there some software for the Mac that will enable to read the Spectre partitions? Any word on when Spectre 3.0 will be out? Will it be able to do this? Thanks in advance, ---jb

-- the base question dealt with Spectre and Mac hard drives. Spectre up to version 2.65C was only able to deal with the earlier Mac hard disk scheme. This was changed, oh, around System 6's release, to a new one Spectre did not understand. This^? is why you are unable to read a Mac formatted syquest read under Spectre. Spectre 3.0 fixes this problem (and many other minor bugs like this). It recognizes both Apple HD schemes. The MegaTalk board that's close will also allow direct Mac SCSI access, DB-25 connector and all. Spectre 3.0 is in final, final beta test. It's down to piddly little bugs that we want to get out of it before we ship. The newsletter is done to announce it and will be mailed shortly. Sorry for the late reply; Comdex prep and Comdex interfered a lot. -- thanks, Dave / Gadgets by Small I haven't thought of a clever saying for down here yet
