[comp.sys.atari.st] Small C-compiler for ST

tij@wolverine.hut.fi (Tapio Johtimo) (11/21/90)

I would like to do some C in my little brother's MegaST, but haven't
so far found anything small enough to work well with only the built-in
3.5" disk-drive.

If any of you happen to know where I could get something suitable
(e.g. by FTP) please email me.

Many thanks, Tapio Johtimo :: tij@niksula.hut.fi

I use Sozobon 1.2 on my 520ST; it's possible with a single-sided drive
and it's even possible to speed things up with a carefully-sized
ramdisk and Gulam. I kept libraries and ld on a second disk, and
would generally only have one swap for compile-assemble-link.

Now I have a double-sided drive, which makes things easier.

The price is right for Sozobon and Gulam, too.

Thank you all very much for mailing me such a many responses to my
request on information about C-compilers.

Most of you recommended using Sozobon-C with a few hundred kB ramdisk.
Another favourite seemed to be Mark Johnson C (MJC). Someone did also
mention commercial compilers Alcyon C and Turbo C.

I have now downloaded both Sozobon-C and MJC, but haven't have time to
do any comparisons between them.

Once again - Many Thanks for You All!
