OK...sorry about this, but now I'm really confused. I know that there are at least a couple of other interested parties out there, so I'll go through all this again. About a month ago or so I decided to really try to find out what was out there in the world of msdos emulation that would provide for EGA or VGA emulation (yeah, I know...I'll need to get a multisynch...but that isn't the question). Well, at that time, ATSpeed had just come out...so at least there was 286 emulation. Also, people at Talon said that VGA emulation was in the works, but didn't mention anything about 286 capability. Well, I called a mail order place that was selling ATSpeed. They said it would do EGA emulation. Then I called Michtron, who was at that time the US distributor for ATSpeed, and they said "no way, ATSpeed doesn't do EGA". So, I had pretty much given up. Well, recently I started to read about a 286 card for SuperCharger and that the VGA card might be ready soon too. Well, I called up Talon Tech today and asked what was up. They said they hope their 286 card would be ready by Jan 1991 and that they hope to have the VGA card ready sometime in the beginning of 1991...OK, I'll buy that. Then they told me that they are now distributing ATSpeed AND that it does EGA!!! What gives? Well, I am not necessarily going to run right out and buy a machine today, so I can wait a bit...although I would like to be able to pick up a good buy if the occassion presents itself...the point is: I keep going back and forth between the idea of buying a cheap used clone (or putting one together) or getting one of these emulators (if they can give me 286 AND at least EGA [better yet VGA]). While I have a feeling that a clone would provide more compatability, it would be nice to not have another machine taking up a lot of space. Also, in the case of Super Charger, you get to use additional memory, too. Does anybody out there know about ATSpeed, how msdos compatible is it, does it really emulate EGA? (Does it do windows?)
