[comp.sys.atari.st] Current store prices for Atari Computers!

chuck@umbc5.umbc.edu (12/09/90)

I just got Toad Computers new price list and thought that I would
post some of the interesting products and prices. This is not
meant to be an advertisement, but rather an example of current
market prices for Atari products.

(Not) to be picky, but it wasn't required of you to post whose price
list it was, although the information is quite intriguing. I'm
afraid people may opt not to buy from their local dealer (if they
have one). I know people who read this net are more intelligent than
call to Toad on Monday and order a spanking new TT; I'm afraid to read
in a month (or two or three) that they haven't received it yet and
blame it on Toad when the only ones they have to blame is themselves.

- TT030 2mb RAM, 50mb HD $2299
- 4mb RAM, 50mb HD $2499
- 8mb RAM, 80mb HD $2999

Now, we all know these are all sitting in a warehouse somewhere
waiting to be branded with the FCC's "seal of approval." Mmm, mmm,
$2299 sounds REAL good though.

- STe 1mb RAM $549
- 2mb RAM $749
- 4mb RAM $849

I wonder if these are factory-installed or dealer-installed memory
configurations. I wonder where they get the two $35 SIMMs for $200
-- must be a special deal. I can understand if Atari installs them
though.

- Accessories SC1224 Color monitor $319
- SC1435 Stereo Color monitor $339
- PTC1426 TT Color monitor $479
- SLM605 Laser Printer $1099

Again, I wonder if the last three are available. I suppose Toad has
a lot of SC1224s to get rid of since I understand that the SC1435 is
going to replace it completely.

- Also, Atari Computers come with a 90 warrantee, but they are

Is this a Toad or Atari offering? I don't blame Atari for wanting to
make an extra $50 on each computer.

I was informed over the weekend that a local store got a couple of TT's, with
one to sell. I didn't see it, but I was told it was $3499 (CDN) with 4MB RAM,
40MB hard disk, and no monitor. 19 inch monochrome was $1500.

Another store has been selling 520STFM's for $399 for the last 6 months.
I bought one just for playing games. (My old 520 didn't have an TV output)
