Hi, I recently bought a hard drive, and believe that I may have blown one of the chips. The symptoms are that, when turned on the drive clicks once, but does not spin, and one chip on the back gets extremely hot. The drive is a Seagate st-157n. Does this sound like a problem with a chip? or is there another likely answer? Also, if it is the chip, does anyone know how easy it would be to get a replacement controller and roughly how much it might cost? I would simply take it to the repair center on campus, but they charge $50 an hour, which I am a bit loathe to pay..... Anyways, any respnses would be greatly appreciated.
