[comp.sys.atari.st] Lint

ALBERT_DAYES@bdt.COM (11/20/90)

Does anyone know of a Public Domain Lint with C source code? It doesn't
matter if its a DOS or UNIX compiler since I have access to both or
more importantly and Atari ST compiler.

Is there a version of Lint out there? I know about varlint, which
is for use with lint really. So, is the actual Lint available on the ST? If
not, can anyone get the source, so I could maybe port it over.

i have never seen a PD lint (so far). most lints i have seen are based on
pcc (and share source with it). these are generally copyright ATT or of
a particular vendor (e.g. convex). there are commercial lints available
on MSDOS.

varlint is a program to check printf statements only, as i recall (for
variable arg routines).

if you happen across a truly PD lint, pls post it. i suspect you will
not, however. if you are really hot to trot for lint, you could start
with a PD compiler (sozobon, gcc, etc) and reverse engineer it from a
manpage. if you want to attempt this, think of a good way to implement
lint libraries (llib_* or whatever).

happy hunting...
