MiNT version 0.7 is now available at atari.archive.umich.edu, in the
"mint" directory (where else?). In case you're not familiar with
it: MiNT is a freeware multitasking system that's (mostly) TOS
compatible, and that provides Unix-like features such as pipes,
signals, job control, and pseudo-terminals.
New features in version 0.7:
(1) Runs on the TT now (thanks to Allan Pratt).
(2) The ability to read/write Minix partitions just as though they were
TOS partitions (thanks to Stephen Henson).
(3) Better memory management, particularly in fork(). Those of you running
MGR will notice that you can open more windows now. The kernel is
no longer limited by an internal memory pool, nor is the process table
size fixed.
(4) CTRL-ALT-C and CTRL-ALT-Z interrupt and suspend processes even if the
terminal is in "raw" mode.
(5) The sample shell ("init.prg") now supports wildcards, aliases, and
variable expansion (again, courtesy of Allan Pratt).
(6) Lots of bug fixes.
The files available are:
(1) mint07b.zoo: binaries for the MiNT kernel, init.prg, gem.prg, and
bgacc.acc
(2) mint07s.zoo: source code for the MiNT kernel
(3) mntutl7b.zoo: binaries for various MiNT utilities, such as kill,
pipe, bg, and miwm
(4) mntutl7s.zoo: source code for the utilities in mntutl7b.zoo, plus
source for init.prg and bgacc.acc
(5) akputil7.zoo: source and binaries for miscellaneous utilities for
use with the init.prg shell (e.g. rm, ls, cp). (Written by Allan
Pratt).
