I would like to second the motion to create a subgroup net.music.split. Much of the traffic generated lately has been discussion of the split. This subgroup could be temporary. It would serve the purpose of allowing people interested in music to focus their attention on music, rather than on the various tirades or windy discussions about the philosophy of the split. Those who are more concerned with the possibility of a split than with music are of course free to read it. There is no worry about finding the appropriate subgroup to discuss artists who fall between the chosen categories. The volume of articles may be reduced by as much as half. A somewhat less serious suggestion is to create net.music.rosen. This subgroup would be meant for sending replies or insults to Rich Rosen, either in response to an insulting reply by him from an article someone submitted, or in response to his general insult to everyone, given in every article he posts, namely "pardon me for breathing". This suggestion is only somewhat less serious because much of the traffic about splitting net.music revolves around Rich Rosen. If net.music.rosen were created, perhaps 25 percent of the articles in net.music could be moved to it. Al Sawyer

If Mr. Sawyer would be upfront enough to describe my "general insult to everyone" and his reasons for believing that the entire debate revolves around me, I would be glad to answer his remarks. Instead of saying something productive, he proposes a newsgroup to provide a forum for insulting an individual person. I think you have a real attitude problem, Mr. Sawyer, and I have absoltuely no compunctions about publicly calling you a third-rate asshole after your sanctimonious comments. If being vocal about a subject is not allowed, then I deeply apologize. By whose standards is such behavior not allowed? Others have posted articles on the proposed split besides me; perhaps a subgroup for each person who opposes the split would be worthwhile so as to ensure that the proper social reject gets the proper replies from those who disagree with him/her. By the way, "responses" should not get posted to a newsgroup. They should be sent by mail, and I do provide my address. This is the very last article on this subject that I will post to the net.music group. The discussion clearly does not belong in this group. To make this article a legitimate net.music article, I will ask a musical question that I asked in an earlier article that probably got swallowed up by this discussion. Does anyone know who originally recorded the song "Some Other Guy", which the documentary "The Compleat Beatles" shows the Beatles performing in the Cavern? Also is a copy of a Beatles cover of this song available?? Thank you to all those who answer. -- Pardon me for breathing, which I never do anyway oh, god, I'm so depressed... Rich Rosen pyuxn!rlr
