If I try running with > GDOS (G+PLUS) installed with an appropriately configured (I think) ASSIGN.SYS - I get 4 bombs! Well OPUS was NOT the culprit! I'm still not sure just what is. Maybe someone knows what's wrong with this picture: I have used the RAM disk program from the now defunct Compute's ST magazine for a long time - never any trouble with original 1040 TOS 1.0. I just got a Mega (TOS 1.2) - set up a 1.5M ramdisk, downloaded OPUS with Uniterm 2.0 (another long-used program) and un-arced it with arc6.03. Archive unpacks with no errors. I copy opus.arc to an archive disk. I run opus from the Ramdisk - voilla, it works - must have been a bad download before (he thinks). So I copy all the program files to a floppy and try to run from the floppy - same 2 or 4 bombs as before. Bad disk?? I format a new one, retrieve my opus.arc un-arc - about halfway through I get archive errors. Expletives deleted. I download another copy of opus.arc - directly to floppy - do an archive test - OK. I start to un-arc - not enough room on disk for the last example spreadsheets. No problem (who needs samples) run opus - 2 bombs! Now I notice that some of the disk file sizes are different - many 0 bytes! One last try - restart machine (with power switch) without ramdisk. Un-arc my saved copy with arc5.23 - everything works. Does anyone know of incompatibility problems with TOS 1.2/Megas/arc6.03 and/or Compute's ramdisk program? Sorry for the long post - but I feel better! Ron Wolenty inuxy!wolenty
