[comp.sys.atari.st] Wanted: PC-Ditto I Help

cwilliam@mimsy.umd.edu (Christopher Williamson) (01/11/91)

I have been trying to get my original PC-Ditto software emulator
working. Since Avant-Garde is out of business, can someone help me?

I have an ICD host adaptor, Quantum 80MB SCSI drive, and a standard
Mega 2 ST. I am using IBM PC-DOS version 3.30 and PC-Ditto version
3.00. TOS 1.4 is installed.

I have gotten PC-Ditto to run, it recognizes 4 partitions on the hard
drive (from the initial screen), I insert a DOS 3.30 floppy, which
successfully boots and I am faced by an A> prompt. HOWEVER, when I
attempt to FORMAT C: /S as requested it gives a divide by zero error.
When I do an FDISK I get another divide by zero error. Help me!

I have cleared out the C: partition (0) on my hard disk and would like
to install DOS on there. I have removed everything from this first
partition and in the meantime I am unable to use my hard drive. Does
anyone know what the "divide by zero" error message is coming from?

Blitzkrieg ('tanks in advance),
Chris

Formatting your hard drive was major overkill. You don't need to
do that to install DOS on it.

Just type "SYS C:" and that will copy all the system files. I think
that should be enough to get you booted. I think SYS also modifies the
boot sector so that DOS can boot off of it. Either way, once you've done
that you could just copy your DOS files to drive C: ( you could even do the
copying from the desktop if you wanted ) and that's all it takes.

Formatting your hard drive is a lot to sacrifice to get DOS on
the hard drive. Heck, just having DOS take up the space is a waste! :-)

I don't know about the rest of your problems. Wish I could help.
Good luck.

I have the same problem with PC-ditto on my ICD hard disk drive. I first
thought it was due to having a C: partition too small. I've increased it
to 6Mb and I still get the divide error whenever I try and access it
(and this includes trying to SYS C:).

I get "divide by zero" errors with PCDII. I canrun from floppies, but PCDII
won't recognise h/disk c or D, even tho it syas they are installed.
Any suggestions?
