This may sound silly, but has anyone out there gotten Elvis to work on the ST? My problem is that, when I invoke (provoke?) Elvis, I always get the message 'unrecognized TERM type'. I am running with Gulam v. 1.04.05 with the TERM variable set to 'st', the TERMCAP variable containing the termcap entry for 'st' and an \etc\termcap file with an entry for 'st'. This same setup works with GNU Emacs and the recently-posted less v. 97 (and no, I'm not running Mint either!). I got my version of Elvis from panarthea. Any ideas? I even tried to run without the TERM variable, just got kicked out again with 'TERM variable must be set'. Talk about Catch-22! I know someone is currently working on the ST port of elvis-1.4. (The version that you are running is version 1.3). I don't know whether and when he will post to comp.*.atari.st though. -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Jan van der Steen jansteen@cwi.nl Centre for Mathematics and Computer Science (CWI) Kruislaan 413, 1098 SJ Amsterdam, The Netherlands

After setting the TERM to vt52 you will still get a message that states that it can't open some temp file. If you press <return> you get your file anyway. This only happens to me if I run ELVIS from GEM. In GULAM (alias vi=elvis) the program starts right up. By the way how do you turn on line numbers in ELVIS. The VI command [:set num] does not work.
