For those lucky people who didn't try to participate in Sam Tramiel's real time conference on Genie on 1/30/91: Genie kept crashing and logging people off. The question delivery mechanism broke. It was a mess. Sam took it *relatively* well (as did about half of the rest of us). Anyway, someone asked how he felt at being the subject of so much attention that it broke a major on-line service. First he said that they should get better software. Then that they should get a better computer......like a TT. For reference: I think Genie runs on a few connected Amdahls. There was a little news, but nothing that would surprise regular readers of c.s.a.st. Steve saj@chinet.chi.il.us

Last time I was on during a Tramiel GEnie conference, was when ATARI France decided to have a bigtime fire. And all this happened when it was -my- turn to ask a question... I had to type it in three times (yeah, I should have buffered it, but didn't want to ask the same question as someone else...) before it came out all muddled and with no one caring by then...
