[comp.sys.atari.st] Autoswitch-Overscan

s37837k@saha.hut.fi (Jari Lehto) (01/23/91)

I am looking for the Autoswitch-Overscan resolution expander.
If anyone knows where to get one (in Europe, Germany preferred)
please tell me. A fax-number would be appreciated!

To those who don't know what this is: A small board that goes inside
your ST and gives you larger resolution in every mode. With SM 124
something like over 700x460... Costs about 120,- DM...
Best when used with multisync. Does not work with every application.
(there is a smart piece of software with it to switch it on and off accor-
ding to the application used)

No problem:

1. snail: Overscan GBR
	  Saentisstr. 166
          W-1000 Berlin 48
          West Germany

2. telephon (voice!): (030) 811 5882

3. fax-number: (030) 312 2639

If you call from outside germany, exchange (030) to (+4930) where the +
is something, that your local telephone-company likes.

672x480 on the most. Some lucky guys get more. The price is alright.

Absolute correct. The software is really good. Wish you much fun with
your blown-up screen.

Question regarding Overscan on the monochrome mode, does it have any problem
with software that only recognize 640x400 in the monochrome mode (ie. games).
How about Spectre-GCR (Mac emulator)? Thanks in advance.

You have a little textfile in the auto-folder called OVERSCAN.INF with all
the names of the programs in it, which don't like anything else than 640x400.
If you start such a program, Overscan will switch the solution at first and
the application is happy. No problems with any program I've tried so far. The
most I use every day, support the higher solution of Overscan (as all well
written GEM-application should do). But I don't have the time for much
games... 8-)

Sorry, I've no kind of emulator. No experience.

Hey Volkmar, you should try Spectre, it is great!

There is a chanse that the current version of overscan supports Spectre,
they are at least working on it. I'll get my overscan soon, then I am able
to tell. Still waiting for Spectre v. 3.0 to arrive... (I think that 3.0
works with the older overscan also)

Hello Jartsu,

the other way round... Spectre works on supporting overscan. The older
overscan was not supported by spectre. But there is realy a good chance that
future versions of spectre will support the new overscan. First we now
have english docs and second, we sent a overscan package directly to
Dave Small :-)
