Is there a way to use the Mercury UUCP package to allow people to call your ST and get uucico as a shell? Does the uucico supplied with the package work in this mode? I *believe* the answer is no: the Mercury uucico gets parameters from an outside file and is probably dedicated to the role it plays. So the second question is, is there another uucico that can be glued into the Mercury package that works in both directions? I know the uupoll program, which calls uucico, would have to change to pass the parameters another way. What I want to do is complete the package by having a UUCP site that can both call and be called. I found that the Mercury package runs on my TT, but only if I use 24bit.prg, because (at least) the GFA Basic runtime isn't 32-bit clean. Also, it won't run under MiNT -- somebody's making a bad AES call, I think, and again it's in uucico, which carries around all the incompatibilities inherent in the GFA Basic runtime. A reimplemented uucico would solve a lot of the problems. Is there one? ============================================ Opinions expressed above do not necessarily -- Allan Pratt, Atari Corp. reflect those of Atari Corp. or anyone else. ...ames!atari!apratt
