[comp.sys.atari.st] SCSI disk for 1040 STe ???

iiitih@cybaswan.UUCP (Ivan Izikowitz) (02/21/91)

I think I may have access to a fairly large SCSI hard disk. The snag
is that I would like to use it on my 1040 STE. Would it be possible to
use this disk with my Atari by just purchasing a SCSI controller
(and power supply of course) ?

Any information/help greatly appreciated!

Unless Atari changed the DMA specs on the STE, you'll need a DMS-SCSI adaptor
(I recommend ICD), a SCSI controller card appropriate for your HD (MFM or RLL)
a PSU and the relevant cables. Driver/formatting/utility s/w comes with the
host adaptor.

I mean DMA->SCSI adaptor of course, not DMS->SCSI adaptor.

I think every SCSI-Drive has a built-in controller, so you don't need a
controller card. My drive works fine without such a thing. You only need
a SCSI-Adaptor.

Can you tell me, what a PSU is?
