[comp.sys.atari.st] Spectrum pix

hyc@math.lsa.umich.edu (Howard Chu) (03/04/91)

A lot of spectrum 512 images were recently uploaded to atari.archive.
Unfortunately, a lot of those seem to be corrupt. While you don't get
much in the way of compression, I'd suggest that future uploads be
arc'd some way or another, just to get the CRC check on the data. (You
can use the (s)tore option in ARC to store a file without compressing it,
if you don't want to wait for the compression algorithms...) Or we can
adopt the crc program that is used to check Minix source code postings
and such, since that's really all I'm asking for. Then when you upload
any non-arc'd files, you can send the CRC values along with their names
in your notification messages.
