I don't know if this will help anyone, but it sure was an interesting experience.... Booted up my 1040st yesterday. Discovered serious case of "drunk mouse syndrome" (it moves jumpily/randomly/wrong direction etc..) Removed mouseball, cleaned rollers. Nope. Unplugged and reconnected mouse. Nope. Dissassembled and cleaned mouse. Nope. {Panic begins} Rebooted computer with blank known-virus-safe disk. Nope?!? After thirty min of frustration/panic, resorted to Sherlock Holmes, i.e.; "When you have removed the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, is the solution" Removed new (just bought and installed that morning) Panasonic cordless phone from the desk that the atari resides on. Mouse sobered up instantly. Apparently the keyboard controller chip is not fond of nearby radio transmitters. So I guess my cordless will just have to be happy sitting on another desk in the room. All's well that ends well, I guess. Later, Brian ps: This message has been sitting on my disk for two weeks waiting for postnews to get fixed at this college.
