[comp.sys.atari.st] uploads to atari.archive

weiner@terminator.cc.umich.edu (Jeff Weiner) (11/05/90)

To whomever uploaded the following this morning:
cosh.zoo
xlisp2-1.zoo
xlispref.zoo
xbios.zoo

Please get a hold of me, as all of these files have checksum errors....

Also, to the recent request of how to upload:

Log on as usual, then:

cd atari/new
type binary
put filename.ext

Then, let me know either via mail or net posting what's there (or supposed
to be there as the case may be.....)

Thanks,
weiner

Aaarrgh! Forgot to switch to binary! Why, oh why doesn't ftp default to
binary mode? Does anyone ever use in in ascii mode?

Here in Finland most of our FTP-servers automagically use Binary...that's
why I spent an hour getting the Minix-upgrade (13 * 200 kB) using ASCII from
atari.archive....:-(

Why is it that there are plenty (well, enough) uploads to atari.archive, and
plenty of postings to comp.sys.atari.st, BUT...

SO FEW POSTINGS ABOUT UPLOADS ???

I hate downloading something, only to find it is useful, but not to me.
Sure, it would be fine if there was an up-to-date INDEX on the archive,
but why not make information more rapidly available?

To avoid being a hippicrit, here's my main stuff:

	games/strabble.arc

		The Scrabble game.

		MONO only, 1Meg. (120K .PRG, 360K dictionary, 20K RSC)

		Very High quality GEM INTERFACE.
		45000 word dictionary.
Very hard to beat COMPUTER OPPONENTS.
		Novice computer opponents too.
You can search dictionary, WITH WILDCARDS.
		Load / Save games.

I've written a colour version now, but I haven't had
time to upload it, mail me if interested.

	games/puzzler.arc

Collection of 7 single player puzzles.

		Supplied as .ACC and .PRG
(.ACC uses 100K of memory though!!)

		1. Flipper (Super INVERT, al la gemini.arc)
		2. Tic-Tac-Toe (Classic, only for completeness
		3. NIM (Another classic, take matches)
		4. Pyramid (Very hard to beat)
		5. Jumper (Solitaire on a triangular board)
		6. Memory (Match pairs of pictures)
		7. Slider (Get the letters A to Z in order)

+ Adjustment dialog to change games slightly
		+ Info dialog
		+ Quit button (waving hand)

Okay, so some people HATE Scrabble, I love it. STrabble is one game
I play a lot. Be prepared to have a dictionary handy!

The Puzzles are fun to use for a while, eventually you'll take it
off the desk menu though.

Warwick.

rdf@pinet.aip.org (Robert Feinman) (02/10/91)

I have just completed a program I would like to post. Could someone
please mail me a message on the best way to do this. Do I ftp it to
atari archives as an arc file. Or do I uuencode the arc and post it
as a message to atari binaries, or both? Thanks...

millert@tramp.colorado.edu (MILLER TODD C) (03/26/91)

Just uploaded the following files to atari.arcihve.umich.edu

dterm_1e.lzh	- latest version of the popular term prg (shareware)
2column4.lzh	- 2 columns ver. 4 -- print text files in two columns per page
and even use both sides of the page. Saves paper. (freeware)

These may take a while to appear since Jeff seems to be a bit backed up :-)
