Hey, quickie question... has anyone out there had any dealings with Sideline Software in Florida... I ran across their add in the Mar. Current Notes and really liked the prices. Really liked their prices, really, really low... perhaps $20 below nearest competitors on some stuff. Maybe too low. Does this company actually exist and do they actually sell what they advetise at what they advertise (14.95 for a game that everyone else has for about $32.95 or more). Just wondering before I give'em my visa carsd no... _ /\/\/\/\> ... Slither... <Admiral JC>

Well, I ordered a copy of Archipelagos from them and they shipped it promptly. It wasn't as fancy as the original copy of Archipelagos I had (this one had a box, a disk, and a folded sheet of paper with instructions, such as they were, while my other copy had a mulitpage stapled manual) but it had everything you needed (and at about 1/4 the price I paid at my local dealer for my first copy). Based on my one experience, I'd order from them again... Don Allison don@col.hp.com And now for my (slightly related) question: Has anyone had any luck getting Archipelagos to work at all? After I bought my copy from the local dealer, I broke my ST trying to upgrade the memory and by the time I got it working again and got around to trying Archipelagos, my dealer had cleaned out the bank and split town, leaving his financier holding the bag...so when I found it wouldn't boot, I was stuck. I ordered a new copy from Sideline, and it has the same behaviour...can't copy it, can't boot with it, etc....is this a program that broke on upgrading to TOS 1.4? Is something flakey in my machine? Or by some remarkable coincidence did I just get two bad copies of the same program? (I'm going to call Sideline and ask for their help, but I thought since the subject came up here, I'd ask here as well).

I ran across their add in the Mar. Current I ordered Anarchy and Shoot 'em up Construction Kit about three to four weeks ago at their 14.95 price. The only problem I had was they accidently shipped it COD when I'd asked for credit card purchase... I called to make sure I wouldn't be charged for both, they said that there might have been some problem with card #, etc and to call if my card was charged. I got my credit card bill the other day and they didn't charge my card. Response time was fairly quick, about 1.5wks from FLA->CO. The worst thing, though, was that their specials go quick! I had a list of about 6 arcade games from their 14.95 specials I'd been wanting for a while and Anarchy was the only one they had left... (If anyone has a used Black Tiger or Strider for sale let me know!) > Notes and really liked the prices. I'm not sure how they get prices like that... When I visit my family in Columbus, Ohio I go to the local(!) atari/amiga/ibm shop. They buy/sell/trade and have great prices on used STuff (carry UK ST mags too). The scary thing is (and here comes my point) they have some kind of shrink-wrap capability because they can shrink-wrap the used stuff. Although it is marked, they could easily represent used software as new. I'm not saying Sideline does this, but it is one way to get good prices. Here're examples from the used 'deals' I got last visit to the shop in Columbus: $10 Drakkhen, $6 Battletech, $4 Iron Lord. The volume of business this store does is amazing. The Atari/Amiga markets in central OH must be thriving. -- /**************************************************************************/ /* Kent Dalton * EMail: Kent.Dalton@FtCollins.NCR.COM */ /* NCR Microelectronics * CIS: 72320,3306 */ /* 2001 Danfield Ct. >>jcksnst@nmt.edu (Admiral JC) had some questions about
Sideline Software of Ft Lauderdale FL and there great prices.
Others contributed there experiences with the company.
Here are mine:
Im at Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton. On my way home I went
looking for Sideline. I was a bit suspesious as they were
listed in the white pages but not the yellow pages. After
about a half-hour I found them. They told me they did no
sales there (only mail-order), but were part of a computer
store nearby called Computer Room. I did see that they had
a good stock of software, but was not allowed in. I figured
if they were part of a store, I could get the same prices
at the store. I was wrong. At Computer Room the prices
offered where the same at any store. Even the stuff with
the great prices at Sideline where $20-30 more at the
Room.
Sideline does exist. How they can offer such good prices
I do not know.
