[comp.sys.atari.st] dmj_gif on ATARI.ARCHIVE

I recently downloaded dmj_gif.lzh from atari.archive and found that
although it does create *very* nice spectrum pictures (and even show 'em to
you to prove it!) none of my other viewers (spslidex, and the couple in artpak
will load these pics....
this may only be true for the .SPC pics (haven't tried the .SPU) yet.
also, the program dmj_gifB.prg for converting interlaced gifs which is
mentioned in the manual is missing!

anyone else have problems with this software?

I also recently DLed this software, it does make incredible SPECTRUM
pics from GIFs but doesn't seem to work correctly with SPC pictures. SPU
pictures are fine. The standard length of an SPC picture is 51400, or at least
this seems to be the case with pictures I've gotten from various locations.
This program creates SPU pictures of length 51400 and for this reason I
believe the author may have fouled up the sompression routines. At any rate
It saves viewable pictures in SPU mode and so far as I can see runs best in
Medium resolution, I base this on the fact that it fouled up an SPU in Low
rez. I gather that this is a base version, the quality is far superior, but
it takes about 20 mins to convert.

I too have had problems with *some* of the .spc files it creates.. I
was not even successful at loading them up in Spectrum... Ah
Well.... Such is life!
