I have found an apparent 'bug' with TDI's Modula-2 and TOS 1.4, and was wondering if anyone out there in net-land could give some advice. I upgraded to TOS 1.4 last summer, and never did much Modula-2 programming as I did not have a need to. However, I am now taking an intensive programming class with Modula, and it would be very helpful if I could access the language at home. I found out early that the ramdisk that comes with TDI's M-2 doesn't work very well with TOS 1.4-- after installing it, it crashes the computer (4 bombs) any time I switch disks in the A: drive and hit the escape key. I went around the problem by using a ramdisk in a desk accessory that I downloaded from atari.archive. So far so good. After doing some programming and compiling, I had some errors in my file, which was saved by the compiler in a file with the extension ".ERM". The .ERM file contains a list of columns, rows, and error numbers where the errors have occurred. TDI's Modula-2 editor is _supposed_ to load up this file when editing the source code and show the errors on the screen, along with english descriptors. Unfortunately, it doesn't. It loads up the file to be edited as per normal, but acts as if the .ERM file doesn't exist. This makes debugging very, very hard to do as I would have to get a hardcopy of the .ERM file, move the cursor around manually to the row/column coordiantes, and then look in a book to get a translation of the error number. On a practical level, this is too time consuming to be worthwhile-- especially with the large programming assignments I will soon be receiving. I have copied the editor and compiler to the A: drive and recompiled my module to see if there was still a problem with the ram disk accessory, but have received the same results. I have disabled all accessories (except the ramdisk accessory), and all items in my AUTO folder to be sure there was nothing "clogging" up the editor. Since TDI's ramdisk had a problem with TOS 1.4, I am assuming that the editor's problem is also with TOS 1.4. I am thus left with two options: 1) Get a patch/fix for this problem. Anyone have an idea/suggestion? 2) Reinstall my old TOS 1.0 chips. (GROAN!) I hate to do it, but the class is so programming intesive and my (working) Modula language is so much superior than what we have at my universitie's mainframe that I would be willing to make the scarifice. If I have to do it, could anyone please mail me the schematics on which order to place in the chips? My chips are labelled as such: 7K2 A6, 6M4 A7, 6M3 A4, 7K3 B4, 6M3 6(B?) 6M3 A6. Thanks a *lot* to anyone who can help me! Perry Pederson
