[comp.sys.atari.st] Seeking a used ST

rehrauer@apollo.HP.COM (Steve Rehrauer) (04/25/91)

My trusty 520ST, purchased in 1985 (this was in the TOS-on-disk days),
finally died (you don't want to know; trust me, it's dead). Though I'd
seldom used it in recent years, my wife had become quite dependent on
it for her word-processing and label-making chores. I knew I'd someday
replace it, but I still haven't made up my mind "with what", and don't
wish to spend a lot at this time. In the short-term, I want to spend
little and protect my software investment.

So, since someone else always seems to beat me to the 'R' key on "for sale"
ads, I thought I'd jump the gun and ask if there's anyone with a 1040ST, or
520ST upgraded to 1meg or more, who's thinking of selling? I don't need
monitor or drives or s/w, just the CPU. If so, I'd be interested in talking
price with you. I'm hoping to find something under $300, but if someone has
a 2/4meg ST or STe they want to dump, by all means consider that a negotiable
limit. Please send email to the address in my signature. Thanks (and
apologies to everyone else for the bandwidth-wastage).

Aiiyee, enough! Close, Sesame! :-)

It seems that quite a few of you have used ST's that you'd like to sell.
Since posting my request, I've discovered that I've been out of touch with
the Atari market; for example, I hadn't realized that one can buy a new
1040STe for as little $399 (from Toad Computers -- this is obviously w/o
a monitor, which is no problem for me. However, Toad currently have none
to sell, claims that no one else does either, and were unable to tell me
for certain when they'd be restocked). I've since found a deal (possibly
two) on a used machine(s) that makes me happy. Thanks to all who responded.
