   16/32-bit Computer Support Team

The 16/32-bit Computer Support Team is a group of individuals on the
Cleveland Free-Net Atari SIG dedicated to bring in the most important
information for your Atari ST,STe,Mega,Mega/STe,STacy, and TT
computer around!

This is no joke. The 16/32-bit Computer Support Team is extremely
serious in what it is trying to do and is doing it for everyone, including
themselves.

The 16/32-bit Support Team's main goal is to create an information source
for all Atari users.

Have you ever NEEDED reviews for certain software and hardware but
didn't know where to find them?

Do you want a bulletin board that has only the MOST valuable information
coming from Usenet, CompuServe, and GEnie?

How about ONLY the most valuable information taken from online magazines
(with credit of course) posted to the bulletin board so you can keep up
with everything without READING everything?

What about a summary section that gives you more information on a product
than just the name?

And how about a Tips & Tricks section that tells you all kinds of
things that you can do with your computer that you never knew?

And lastly- would you like to see a Support Team for Atari Computers that
is so powerful that even Atari Corporation will listen to what they
have to say?

A 16/32-bit Computer Support Team is forming with goals that its members
are determined to reach. The Support Team already has a system that will
hold all of this information and it is accessible through Internet. There
is already a "16/32-bit Info & Support" area established on this system for
the Support Team.

There is no enthusiasm for computers like Atari computers.
The users are a VERY unique breed and that is why an unheard of Support Team
like this can be formed.

So, how can the Atari 16/32-bit Computer Support Team help you get the
most out of your computer?

The Support Team works by a system called synergy. Each team member
does a part to contribute to the success of the goals set by the team.
Each person in the team knows that he or she could not get A LOT of reviews
or summaries by themselves to meet their needs. If a team member has
only collected two reviews on MIDI software and there are four other
software titles that he has not read about that could satisfy his needs,
he would be missing out- especially if someone else has those reviews.
If both these people get together and post the reviews in a certain area,
they can get the most out of it by sharing information that each other
had. The more people, the more reviews that can be shared.

This is what the Atari 16/32-bit Computer Support Team is all about.
It makes sense!

If a team member goes to the Atari SIG on GEnie and another member goes
to the Atari SIG on Compuserve, they can post messages in the Cleveland
Free-Net Atari 16/32-bit Computer Support Area to trade information that
the other has not received. A person who does not call Compuserve or GEnie
but writes reviews for products can trade his reviews for their Compuserve
and GEnie information. Everyone benefits by joining the 16/32-bit
Computer Support Team.

Not a bad idea, aye? But if it is such a good idea, why hasn't it been
done before? It hasn't been done before because there was no
organization before. Now there is! And it can work like a powerful tool
for each and every one of us.

What can you do to be a part of this "Atari 16/32-bit Support Team"?
You can become a team member! As a team member, you will be contributing
a little and gaining a vast amount of information.

Can you imagine if you joined the Support Team, contributed 4 reviews
and there were nineteen other team members who did the same? There would
be 80 reviews for you to search through anything you need anytime you may need
it. This goes for EVERY SINGLE ASPECT that the Support Team has to offer-
not just reviews. Now let's take even a higher number. What if there were
fifty people that contributed 4 reviews to the Support review section?
That is 200 reviews that can be obtained by you and you only had to
give 4 reviews. The number can grow tremendously by more people joining
the Support Team without you having to do any more work.

This message is originating from the Atari SIG account on the Cleveland
Free-Net Community Computer System.

If you would like to make the most out of your Atari Computer and start
something that other computer owners could only dream about, reply to this
message and find out what you can do as a team member to reach the goals set.

Get the most, why stay with less?

Thanks,

Atari 16/32-bit Computer
      Support Team

Very interesting idea... sort of an "on-line" Atari user group...

Just a couple of comments/questions...

>coming from Usenet, CompuServe, and GEnie?

Not a flame, just a caution... be careful about extracting information from
commercial online services... while they don't like to make an issue of it,
they DO claim a compilation copyright on the contents of the service.
If you read the fine-print in the membership application, you'll see that
they generally prohibit the reposting of information without express
permission, generally on a case-by-case basis. The recent flap in the
GEnie ST Roundtable over extracting portions of messages is a case
in point.

They're in business to make money from the information on their service,
and they'd naturally rather have the people come to them and pay for
it.

A question... would you be willing to let your reviews be re-posted to
GEnie or CompuServe..?

In response to Bob's concern over the taking of Compuserve and GEnie
information, any information taken from these systems will be taken legally.

Hopefully, there will be a big enough network of team members that all
information will be contributed originally by team members and there would
be no need for any other information source.

Thanks Bob for making the point (and do everyone a favor- join the team). :)

Even if you DO NOT have access to "telnet", send a reply anyways, I believe
Marc Lombardo (leader) will be able to arrange something.
