In fact, it's 1280x960.

The difficulty in finding a monitor that can display all TT
modes relies in the fact, that the high resolution mode uses
an ECL signal for better picture quality.
This is equivalent to TTL but the same signal is lead to the
monitor twice: one time directly, one time inverted.
This way influences on the cable by other electric devices
can be eliminated by simply reinverting one and then adding the
two signals.

The signal for the lower resolutions is standard analog VGA
so any VGA monitor can be connected to the TT. I don't know
if such a monitor will synchronize to the ST-resolutions, too.
Naturally, any multisync monitor can be used and will catch
all resolutions besides 'TT high'.

The only monitor that provides _both_, ECL _and_ full multisync
capability and that is available here in Germany is the
Eizo 6500 21-inch greyscale monitor (at $ 2000, I think, at least
here it costs about DM 3500).
You need an additional switch box to connect it to the TT if
you want to display _all_ resolutions. ($ 50 or so).
The TTM194 shipped by Atari _can't_ display the lower resolutions
because it's _no_multisync_ (same story as with the SM124 on an ST).
The Atari monitor costs about DM 2000 ($ 1200 or so).

Hope, that helps.

P.S. I'm going to buy a TT and this Eizo monitor in a few weeks.
If you can aford it - get it ! The picture's great and the
2 inches larger screen really does it. Small Text is readable
much better than on Atari's 19-inch monitor.
