[comp.sys.atari.st] Be careful with Sideline Software!

whitcomb@aurs01.uucp (Jonathan Whitcomb) (05/22/91)

Just a heads up for those of you who are thinking of ordering
games from Sideline Software...

They just pulled a classic "bait and switch" on me. I ordered
some games advertised in the May "Current Notes", and when
I got the order one of the games was priced $12 higher than
advertised on my invoice, and one game had been omitted from
the order with no explanation. (To be complete, one game was also
priced a dollar less than advertised.) When I called to
question them, I was told it was an old ad... the magazine had
just come out that week!

In Sideline's defense, service is quick and prices are usually
very low, and I've always gotten good, complete working software,
but now I'm going to be very careful if I deal with
them in the future. Don't assume that the current price is
what you read in their ads, and don't assume you're going to
get everything you order.
