I heard a rumor that the song "Laura" by Christopher Cross is about Laura Baldwin Spencer, who recently "died" on the soap "One Life to Live." Does anyone know if this is true?

I've read that the Christopher Cross song "Laura" is a
tribute to his girlfriend's friend (got that) from Denison college
near Columbus, Ohio. See was killed in a freak accident by a stray
bullet from a nearby shootout while in Columbus.
The song does owe its popularity I understand from being used as
theme music on a popular daytime soap.
