I am having some trouble with the software version of PC-Ditto. My setup is : 1040 ST, Supra 20 meg HD, MS-DOS 3.3. Previously, I had DOS installed on my HD and everything worked great. However, I needed to reformat my HD. After I reformatted, and tried to reinstall DOS on the HD, I ran into problems. When I run PC-Ditto and try to run the DOS format to install the system, the format does not work right. I used "format c:/s" which should format the c: partition and install DOS on it. The command runs and says it is formatting the disk, but the disk access light says that it is not doing anything. When it is finished formatting, it does install the system properly (I can even boot DOS from the hard disk after doing this). I get problems, though, when I try to reinstall my ST programs onto the c: partition. Some things work OK and others don't. This seems to be because the disk was not formatted correctly. I have no idea why this doesn't work, as I have had this same setup working before. Does anybody have any ideas???? Help!? By the way, C: is formatted to 4.3 megs, the same size that worked before. If there is no answer to this, is there a way to use a sector editor to make the partition look like a DOS system disk and then just copy the three files written out by the 'format c:/s' command? I tried copying the files (MSDOS.SYS,IO.SYS,COMMAND.COM) to the disk, but DOS still reports "Non-System disk" on bootup. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!! Doug I9853100@ccit.arizona.edu
