[net.music] Is The Band back?

	I recently heard a local station say The Band was going
	to be in Portland, OR soon on their "reunion tour."
	(At Starry Night for the locals) Does anyone know anything
	about this? Is it the full crew - Robbie, Paul, Levon,
	Garth and the rest? After all these years? Any information
	would be appreciated. Thanks...

If the lineup is the same as for the Chicago stops on their
tour, its the original lineup minus Robbie Robertson (a big
minus, in my opinion).

I saw The Band here in Columbus, Ohio on a "reunion" type tour
several months ago. All the members are together, except Robbie
Robertson I'm sorry to report. Maybe in an effort take up the
missing space, Danko has put on some major poundage. 
Overall, I thought the concert was quite good and enjoyed it
alot. They played strong performances of all their old classics
which was what the audience wanted to hear.
Some dissappointments though:
  1. attendance was HORRIBLE, I felt bad for these music legends.
    (The only SURE sell in Columbus is HEAVY, HEAVY, metal rock.)
    They riot to get to buy tickets for a Quiet Riot/Iron Maiden
    show, but Jimmy Buffett gets a poor turnout. The Motels were
    cancelled due to poor sales, and The Kinks had extra tickets
    available. I contend the local radio stations push only
    top 40 or heavy metal rock and won't help the city musically
    mature, but don't get me started on that.

  2. I enjoyed the warm up band The Cate Brothers, but they sat in
    as extra musicians during the entire Band performance. I
    thought they were just a distraction and cluttered up the stage.
    I didn't need that much unoriginal sound.

  3. Bob Dylan DID NOT make a guest appearance. Nor did Neil Young,
    Muddy Waters, Van Morrison, Ron Wood, Joni Mitchell, etc. etc.

P.S. I think 80% of those in attendance wore their original
jean jackets from the 60's.
