Keywords: I've just compiled vt100 version 2.3 with the fixes described on the net. I used Manx version 3.20 to compile. I made Steve Livintchouk's modification to init.c to fix the bug with setting VOLUME to 0. The bug fix works, and vt100 now gives me a flash when volume is 0 and a beep when volume is > 0. Lattice and Manx must be doing things differently if the beep works under Manx but not Lattice (I'm not a C hacker, I don't know what). I also tried Jeff Clesius's modifications to add Amiga-key synonyms for the menu selections. They half work. If you select them with the right-hand Amiga key (open-Amiga for you apple //c fans) they work properly. If the left-hand Amiga (closed-Amiga) key is used, the program enters "hyperspace" and refuses to listen to further keyboard or menu input (including the close gadget, so there's no way to quit except rebooting). The program doesn't crash as far as I can tell, and the rest of the system functions normally (i.e. other running programs aren't affected, no gurus). I recompiled the program again without these modifications and it works just fine (I'm using it now). Has anyone else had the same problem? Did I mix up installing the diffs? (I did it manually with Emacs since I have no desire to deal with Unix ed.) I'm using Popcli II along with vt100--might this have an effect? -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Mike Portuesi | | Carnegie-Mellon University Computer Science Department | | | | ARPA: mjp@spice.cs.cmu.edu | | UUCP: {harvard | seismo | ucbvax | decwrl}!spice.cs.cmu.edu!mjp | | | | "Talking about music is like dancing about architecture" | | --Laurie Anderson, "Home of the Brave" | +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Well, I still can't get the audible beep to work with Lattice. So I've decided to try Mr. Portuesi's suggested bug fix: I'll have to purchase a Manx compiler.
