(OVO) I have done side-by-side comparisons of the Sony PVM1271Q and Mit. C-3419CLP just to see the differences: The Sony is brighter, sharper, has much richer colours and flickers more on interlaced display than the Mit. The Mit. is definitely the long persistence type, moving screens (I used some of DBW's HAM pix for this) causes perceptible smear. The smear is not too pronounced, and for many users will probably mean less discomfort than the interlace flicker. The flicker is not completely removed, but it is GREATLY reduced. This monitor would probably look better under reduced room illumination, but it will never be as sharp as the Sony. I adjusted the controls on the Sony so that both screens had the same brightness before making these tests. The Mitsubishi costs about twice as much as the Sony.
