[comp.sys.amiga] 1.2 with AmigaBasic

Ata@RADC-MULTICS.ARPA (John G. Ata) (12/17/86)

Received the Amiga Enhancer the other day and have been on the whole
pleased with product. However, there are seems to be some strange bugs
lurking there. Specifically:

          1) AmigaBasic seems to get into a state (twice so far) where all
control characters seem to be displayed as a square "O". This
makes all output unreadable as <CR> and <BS> do not perform
their proper functions resulting, for example, in the initial
copyright messages being displayed as one long line right off
the right side of the screen. Rebooting Workbench has no
effect, it appears that one must reload Kickstart to have this
problem go away. Can anyone explain how this could happen seeing
that kickstart is supposed to go into a supposedly
write-protected area. Seems like it gets into this state after
a long period of copying disks and files. The first time
it happened, I had just copied AmigaBasic to another disk,
the second time I had transferred the FD1.2 drawer. Any comments
on this would be greatly appreciated.

          2) If one is setting the time in Preferences, and have just clicked
in the minutes, it appears that if the minute increments before
you exit Preferences, you will get a "task-held" error
immediately upon exiting Preferences. However, if you select
the hours digit before exiting, there is no problem.

          3) Sometimes, while in a tool, if one changes directories to
RAM:, and leaves the tool without changing back, a task held
message, or a crash will follow. On the same note, certain
tools like AmigaBasic, and PCUtil appear to link to a directory
properly when told to, but upon exiting will keep the link
active so that a little memory is never returned, and the disk
icon will not go away when removed because the system thinks
that someone is still using it.

Am extremely eager to hear from anyone who is experiencing similar
problems, and hope that CA knows about them so that they will be fixed
in the next release.
