[comp.sys.amiga] Wanted: Amiga Info/Descr

aiko@xanth.UUCP (02/05/87)

Can somebody tell me a few things about the Amiga? I'm trying to decide on
a system for home.

Mainly, is it compatible with some big-time system. I see it has a M68000,
does that mean it's Macintosh compatible?

What kind of really keen features does it have? How's the keyboard, CRT, etc.

I kind of favor the 80186/80286 species - how does the M68000 compare? I've
heard the 80186 can rival a VAX's performance.

Thanks in advance.......{john hayes}

Oh, $#!+, here we go again. Do you think maybe we can behave ourselves
this time? Maybe? Please?

	------======######>>>>>>  NEWS FLASH  <<<<<<######======------

After extensive analysis of the previous posting, I have come to a
startling conclusion: The USENET is under attack from the government!

When I saw this posting, it struck me as being deliberately worded
to incite yet another Boing War (as though we didn't have enough of those
already).

After saving the posting off to a file, I ran a check on it, and
discovered that it had some non-printable ASCII in it that 'more' usually
filters out. The hidden data in itself made no sense. So I tried a few
things. Fortunately, I happen to have the new NSA cryptographic chip in my
Amiga (thanks, crunch!) and decided to run the article through.

To my incredible surprise, this was what came out the other end:

I think that the extraneous garbage in the signature was to force
the "cyphertext" to come out right after encryption.

Interestingly enough, the administrator at pyramid insists that they
do not have a connection to a site named "trw," and further, they are not on
the ArpaNet, nor are they a gateway to it. They have, however, gotten some
strange phone calls.

I checked with various backbone sites, and they have mentioned that
they have gotten anonymous phone calls from persons asking for the account
names of people who put NSA line-traps in their postings.

So I summoned up as much courage as I could muster, and called the
NSA. I recorded the conversation, and the following is a transcript:

--------
	[7 rings.] "2047. Identity?"

	"Uh... Sensitive but unclassified."

	"Password?"

"Um.... [wracking brains for something plausible] Jerry Falwell is
a potato chip."

"Hang on... [click! on hold for about 3 minutes. Sousa music
playing] Yes?"

	"Um... Uh.... .... It worked."

	"What worked?"

	"The USENET posting."

	"Yes, we know."

"Well, I thought you'd like independent confirmation."

"Thanks, but we *do* have an account on The WELL."

"Oh, uh, that's right. So, uh, what's next?"

"We're moving on The $ource and BIX tonight. USENET operations
should continue for another few weeks."

"Great. Fantastic. Say, what prompted all this?"

"Those stupid little signatures that our Crays trap."

	"What little signatures?"

"Don't you know?..... Who is this?"

	"Uh, Sensitive but Unclassified."

"*I'M* Sensitive but Unclassified. Who the hell are you??!! How'd
you get past....? **SHIT!!** [click!]"

--------
This leads me to believe that the NSA is getting sick and tired of
all those little keywords people are putting in their postings, and that
they are beginning to retaliate.

I fully expect to be arrested within the next few minutes. FIGHT
BACK!! DON'T LET THEM DO THIS TO US.  WE HAVE A RI^?^?}_~r*!7m~}
