My five year old daughter has been using the family Amiga since well before her last birthday. The workbench interface and two-button mouse seem perfectly natural to her. It has been great fun watching her learn to pull down menus and select items and draw and fill... ("Would you buy me more disks, Daddy?") She cannot actually read (unless she's conning me :-)), but evidently kids don't have any problem memorizing PATTERNS of letters in menu items of interest. I'd like to start to teach her to program, but I want to keep it fun and visually-oriented. For example, she's already asked me questions such as "What's the biggest number?" Seems like a obvious lead-in to use the computer to explore the natural numbers. But again, I don't want to type in a C program for her that dumps digit strings to the screen... somehow I don't think she'd be too interested in argc and argv... Friends have mentioned LOGO, but no vendor version seems available. So here's my question for the net: What's out there that will help me to help her get started?
