[comp.sys.amiga] Doctor's office software

ingoldsby@calgary.UUCP (02/11/87)

I have a friend who is about to set up his own (medical doctor's) practice
and is looking for an office system to handle the billing of patients,
filling out the standard insurance forms, etc. He doesn't feel that there
is too much different in running a doctor's office as opposed to, say, a
plumber (at least in terms of the bookkeeping). There is a great deal of
good software available to do this on IBM PC's, but unfortunately this
doctor is quite literate in computers and would probably suffer a seizure
if forced to work for very long on MS-DOS :> so I am looking for software
that will run under a decent operating system on a readily available
computer.

I am personally a great fan of OSK (OS9/68K) and was wondering about the
price/availability of this for popular machines, and what software is
available. I would be open to suggestions for other DOS's as well, since
almost anything is better than MS-DOS (except toggle switches).

Please be specific in your replies (ie. price, names and addresses of firms
supplying such software, etc.). Many thanks in advance.

Terry, while the computer is new, and there's not too much available
software yet, my vote for best goes to the Tandy Color Computer 3
(CoCo 3). It's new OS-9 Level II operating system, plus 512K RAM,
efficient processor, good graphics, 40/80 column, and compatability with
most all the existing Color Computer software out there make it the best
buy around.

The CoCo 3 is available (w/ 128K) for under $200, and you can pick what
monitors, disk drives, printers, etc. YOU want to add... See THE RAINBOW,
which is avail in many bookstores, for tons of ads and information on the
CoCo 3 you won't get from Radio Shack.

I know of several accounting/billing packages out for the CoCo 1/2, and
there are a few more being developed for the 3 now, if you're friend can
wait.

Try Mark Data Products (see ad in Rainbow) as one source for acct. sft.
