[comp.sys.amiga] computer suggestions wanted

purtill@faline.UUCP (03/06/87)

I've been considering getting a personal computer. The question
is, which one. Aside from just random hacking, the main thing I'd
like to do with it is write my thesis (in pure math) on it, so it
would be nice to have something like TEX available, and some kind
of decent output device. I'd also like a C compiler, a debugger,
and stuff like that. I don't care about other software availablity
much. My price range is in the $2-3K area, complete (ie., if TEX
costs $1K, that counts in the total.) I might be able to go as
high as $5K, but thats the limit. (I should note my thesis won't
be done for another year at least, so there's no great hurry).

I'd like to hear from people who have machines and do similar
things. Do you like what you have now? Why or why not? Would you
buy it again? What would you buy if you were me? Any info along
these lines would be appreciated.

Please respond by mail to one of the following addresses, as I
rarely read any of these newsgroups (since I don't have a computer
(yet)).

Thanks in advance.
