From: CC.KASSEBAUM@R20.UTEXAS.EDU I went over to Byte-by-Byte with my Amiga and a Comspec AX2000 2 meg memory and we connected a PAL JR to it. Everything work fine. It was nice to come up with 3.5mb of memory and have the speed of a hard disk. At the developers' conferences the PAL/PAL JR were by far the fast drives. Has anyone else connect ANYTHING to an Comspec AX2000? The Comspec lmemory is very well designed. Now for some info about the PAL JR. o Fits on top of your Amiga and is connected to the Amiga by a stable (metal box with printer-circuit card for buffers and connectors). o Switch on rear and plug to connect your Amiga AC power. o One meg memory on board at $C000000. o Battery backup clock. o Hard disk and controller with DMA. (They will offer an optional SCSI controller for you to plug into the controller card. They offer a 20 meg and a 40 meg hard disk drives.) o 90 watt power supply. o Two Zorro slots, but one is used by the disk controller card. (they will be offering memory expansion cards) The inside of the PAL JR is well designed, indeed it is the same as a PAL but with only two slots and a smaller power supply. The disk controller uses a DMA controller designed by Commodore-Amiga. The PAL and PAL JR are the only disk that are DMA that I know of. -------
