[comp.sys.amiga] Vizawrite- Reply

pbrody@udenva.UUCP (03/30/87)

This message is in reply to Steven Litvinchouk's message regarding
VizaWrite. I am sorry this is posted as a regular message but I
simply don't know how to reply to messages so that they get sent. I
manages to reply but then they reappear in my own mailbox as unsent
mail. If anyone knows what's going wrong please tell me!

Anyway.

In message 3030 (I think) Steven Litvinchouk asked :
> Will [VizaWrite] fit comfortably in 512K ?

I really can not tell you. The demonstration was rushed in between Ray Ward's
demonstration of the program they will marketing for him. (I put him in touch
with Progressive- that's why I was there.) and our escort to the door. In
addition, Dan Browning (the Marketing Director) had an Amiga with 2 Megs and
a Supra Hard Drive (Made me turn green with envy.) So I couldn't tell, though
it would seem pretty reasonable to assume so seing as how most Amigas have 512K

>Did you get to see how the output looked on any of the dot Matrix printers in
>standard preferences ?

No, I did not. However, Dan Browning said that their drivers were superior and
would give better printing than the normal prefernces ones. So assuming that
you don't use really gorssly ornate fonts you should get quite a good printout.

>Will a PostScript back end or other support be available for Laser printers ?

I believe that there will not be. There are presently some commercially
available Laser printer drivers. One thing there will be is an upgrade
module to turn VZWRITE into a full featured desk top publishing system.

>Is there a page preview mode to view an 8.5" by 11" inch page of text and
>graphics on the screen ?

Yes, and no. There is no special mode so far as I know but the text and
graphics are shown in the window at the same time so you can simply scroll up
and down to get a good idea of what your page will look like.

VZWrite is a terriffic all around product and a serious word processor that
really lets the Amiga show it's stuff. From what I saw it looked like something
that I will be buying.

Finally (Gasp!)

I am really impressed with Progressive Peripherals and Software. The company
puts out some terriffic software designed around the world. (Both their
Logistix spread sheet and VZWrite are English) Also, ther version of VZWrite
I saw was what they called a late Alpha version. They do not take that with
a grain of salt like most companies do. The "Alpha" version of VizaWrite was
more stable than KS1.0! When it is delivered (most likely on time) it will
probably be completely bug free.
