After my posting about PAL Jr., some of us (including me) wished that the price were lower than $1495. It was also disappointing that they don't sell thru dealers. So I thought of the following idea: "We (comp.sys.amiga) are quite a big customer base, right! So why not we get together and ask Byte by Byte(BbB) if they can give us a volume discount." ~ ~ ~ So, I called BbB and asked them if they were willing to do that. After a lot of hesitation, they agreed to give $100 discount if we buy FIVE boxes with the condition that all the boxes are delivered to a single destination. They agreed to accept multiple checks, though. We might get more discount(not less than $150) if we increase the number to TEN. Now, I have two questions/problems. (1) Are there enough of us interested in getting this discount? If yes proceed to (2) (3) I am willing to take the delivery from BbB and ship the boxes to individuals. BUT, texas state tax is 7.25 % . So, out of state people will pay this tax unnecessarily and they won't gain anything from the discount (they would actually lose a few $$ ). If somebody out of state is willing to take responsibility, there won't be any tax, but there would be double shipping cost. So, if five of us want to buy this box now, the scenario is like this: 1. Buy directly from BbB: $1495 + shipping . 2. I take the delivery : $1395 + 100 (tax) + shipping 3. Out of state delivery: $1395 + shipping + shipping. Ideal condition would be $1395(or less) + NOtax + shipping. Can anyone suggest a way around this problem? I have expressed this problem to BbB. They are also giving this a thought. -srini.... I don't want the anyone on this net to think that I am advertising for BbB. I am a grad. student (ofcourse, poor) trying to buy an expensive product at a discount rate at the cost of network telephone bills paid for by the University of Texas. As a by-product of my selfish move, others can also get a discount. That's all folks.

ASDG would readily (not hesitatingly) give discounts (amounting to a much higher percentage of total cost I might add). If anyone on Usenet is interested in group buys of quality ASDG products, send email to me. However, next week I may be out of touch, something about me get- ting married. Perry
