I just downloaded the recently posted "spool.shar" file, which looks like it will really be fantastic! I haven't had time to compile it yet, but from the man page it looks pretty nifty. Which brings me to the subject of this note -- what magazines are there (available in US) that are devoted to the Amiga? The above program hails from Amy Magazine, a publication I have never heard of! To be honest, the only amiga-type mag I know and read is AmigaWorld. I have heard of "amazing computing" and "transactor" on this net, but don't know where, when, if, or how to buy them. Someone said to look in B. Daltons -- I checked (yes, it is true, it was a month ago, but still) -- and they had about 50 computer magazines, but none of those above except AmigaWorld. So I was wondering if someone would like to post a canonical guide to amiga publications, listing perhaps the title, issues per year, subscription cost, where to write to get a subscription, and magazine format (eg: glossy, newsletter, etc). If anyone interested in doing this is ambitions, they could also put down their impression of the mag. Here's a starter. Yeah, I know everyone has AmigaWorld, but it is the only one I have, so... Title: AmigaWorld, Issues per year: 6, Cost: $14.97/yr, $3.95/issue Where to write: CW Communications/Peterborough; AmigaWorld PO Box 868; Farmingdale, NY 11737. Format: Glossy ~100pages. Impression: lots of fluff, but good ads and the reviews are getting better. Wish there were 12 issues... PS: Here's one that I just found on the net... Title: The Amigan Apprentice & Journeyman, Issues: 6/year, Cost: $24/year Where to buy: The Amigans; Box 411; Hatteras, NC 27943, Format: Newsletter. Impression: PD Software reviews (???) -- Dan Green -- ARPA: hsgj%vax2.ccs.cornell.edu@cu-arpa.cs.cornell.edu UUCP: ihnp4!cornell!batcomputer!hsgj BITNET: hsgj@cornella
