[comp.sys.amiga] Runour Check

pbrody@udenva.UUCP (04/13/87)

 I heard the following from a friend of mine, and I was wondering if you
people out in Netland knew anything about it. here goes.

#define(Reality.off)

1. An Atari ST emulator for the Amiga is under development and will be
released relatively soon.

2. There is an Apple IIe emulator for the Atari ST, and there may be one for
the Amiga, except that it will also handle IIgs without all the sound.

3. A company called Humter systems is developing a program that will run IBM
PC software at 100% native speed of 68000 machines, and has alreday been
demonstrated working on the MacIntosh.

#define(Reality.on)

Well, does anyone know anything ?

Actually, I saw an Apple ][ emulator running on the Amiga a long time ago.
We took the demo SideCar that my dealer got and we plugged and Apple card
into the PC slot. We than booted the Amiga, booted the SideCar, and then
booted the Apple. But that was along time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Since GEM is designed to be very portable, this would seem to be a
pretty reasonable statement. All anyone would have to do is buy the
GEM OEM version for the 68000 and do a port.

A port would probably have to include disk routines to read ST format
disks though that too is possible (anyone seen Dos-2-Dos?).

HOWEVER, any ST program that talks directly to the hardware for sound
or graphics etc. (which could be just about all of them) may not work
too well.  Oh well, TANSTAAFL.

Only mildly amusing, I'd rather have the ST emulator (and CAD-3D)
