I am not a *horrible* programmer, but I am stuck. I am trying to write a simple piece of code that takes Arpabet (phonetic) input and feeds it to the narrator device in a sane way. I can open the narrator device, but any attempt to assign data to the required data structures precipitates a 8000000A.something guru, or sometimes just a freeze-up. I have the source to speechtoy, but it is written all wrong for the system I'm using (see below), and is too involved for me to steal the portion of the source I want. I also have the book "Inside the Amiga" but its examples don't seem to work -- they crash. *I just want to see the narrator portion*; all the other stuff is confusing me. I'm working on a 512K Amiga under 1.2 with Manx 3.40a, patched with the version 1.3 patch program. Thanks very much for any help you can provide. -- # Daniel Rosenberg (CE) AT&T Bell Labs, Murray Hill # disclaimer: These opinions are necessarily mine, not my employer's. # UUCP: {ihnp4 || research || allegra}!alice!d AT&T: 201/582-6455 (work) # INTERNET: d%alice%btl@csnet-relay or d@alice.att.com
