	In the driver, when one gets a super/subscript command, should
the printer also be placed in condensed for the duration?

NO.  Let the user decide what size to make the subscripts.  Of course,
the user may want to use compressed, but maybe not.
     
BTW--isn't PICA usually 10 and ELITE usually 12?
