[This article is probably only of interest to net-news reader using the "rn" news reading program.] One of the best things about this newsgroup is the collection of programs that are distributed for us to grab and play with on our own Amigas. Most come in shar format. I just want to make sure that everyone knows about a nifty program that came off the net umpteen months ago that lets you un-shar a news article from inside of rn. That is, you don't have to save the articles and later run a shar unpacking program on it. The name of the program is rnget; when a shar-ed news article comes up that you want to save you just type in "| rnget <directory-name>" (without the quotes) and rn will pipe the current article through the rnget program, which un-shars it and places the result into the named directory. (The directory is created if it doesn't already exist.) You can then download the stuff to your Amiga when you're done reading the news. This method is not applicable to those who want to un-shar the article on their Amiga. (But a VAX-11/785 runs rnget faster than I think the Amiga runs (un)shar.) If everyone already knows about rnget, then just pretend I never posted this article. If, on the other hand, it looks like something that more folks would like to have I'll see about getting it reposted to wherever the appropriate place is. In the mean time you might scour your sources archives and see if you have it around. keith
