As far as I'm concerned, the fewer files I have to Kermit between this Vax and my Amiga, the better. Breaking a file up into pieces before it reaches its final destination only makes things more complicated, and introduces the possibility of losing something alone the way (I FTP the files to another machine for downloading). In fact, I sometimes ARC files together on Spice so I can download one compressed bundle of stuff that I can unpack later. Maybe the Vax can run rnget faster than my amiga, but Dave Wecker's shar is quite acceptable, especially off a ramdisk. To me, the speed of shar isn't an issue. The fact that it works is enough to please me. --M -- Mike Portuesi / Carnegie-Mellon University Computer Science Department ARPA: mjp@spice.cs.cmu.edu UUCP: {harvard | seismo | ucbvax | decwrl}!spice.cs.cmu.edu!mjp BITNET: rainwalker@drycas (a MicroVax I on Bitnet...can you believe it?)
