Being a registered owner of their Modula-2 (developer's version), I was looking forward to the 1.2 update so I could do things like use the compiler under the new KS/WB 1.2. Well, I recieved an order form recently for the update, and I can't believe my eyes. They want $49.95 for the M-2 update. This seems to be a little expensive for someone who has already shelled out over $100 for a far from perfect product. I was never promised a FREE update when I originally purchased M-2, but I was told about the upcoming release that would work on the new KS/WB and have several features. Far be it for me to expect something for nothing, but I was not even given a clue that the price would be so outrageous. (I even called them and talked to someone there just to make sure I was reading it right. I was.) ANYWAY, I just thought I'd share my (negative) experience with you. I do enjoy their version of M-2, but am now looking for a company with another product who values my business a little more. Timothy B. Burleson {akgua,hplabs!hp-sdd,sdcsvax}!crash!pnet01!timothyb I love Commodore and I'm not afraid to admit it.

Refering to the fact that TDI wants $50 for their upgrade, that is not the least of the problems. I ordered and finally received the "Upgrade". I compiled some of their examples, etc. When I tried to compile my main program (>60k, w/lots of imports), the compiler bombed. I called them about the problem, they said to give them an example of what causes the crash. I traced the problem down to *16* lines of code, a couple of type declarations, one reference to a record variable, and POOF! And of course every time I call them they use the common, "It'll be another 5 weeks or so" tactic so well loved by inaccessible companies. (For the upgrade *upgrade*!). If you have version 2.20a, it *WILL* work under 1.2 (yet no access to any of the new routines), but you can use RRDs, and test to see if your code will run correctly under 1.2. TDI Modula-2 Amiga is an otherwise fine product (the new manual is decent too). John
