I am interested in chess programs for the amiga. I seem to recall that this has been discussed here before, but at that time I didn't know that my son (age 7) would get interested in the game. He is just a beginner, so I need a program that can start slow (so to speak) and then play a better game as my son improves. There are several programs on the market. I would appreciate opinions/reviews of them, and any public domain programs as well. Since this subject has been discussed before, please e-mail replies to me, etc. Many thanks in advance. Nick.

Nick - get "Chessmaster 2000" from Software Toolworks. You can't do any better on any computer (IMHO)... and the 3-D mode is FANTASTIC on the Amiga. Your son will love it. When you click the mouse a little hand onscreen grabs the chess piece as you move it. The program also talks, and has every conceivable chess option including a disk library of dozens of historical chess games, an excellent manual, many levels of play, etc. This is one piece of software I always recommend to new Amiga owners, along with Deluxe Paint II.
