Keywords: Okay, I give up... I haven't done a proper search through the manuals yet, but maybe this'll be faster. What ON EARTH is snapshot for. I naievely assumed that it would have something to do with storing the current arrangement of some set of WB items on disk. You know, if a disk is selected, store the sizes and positions of currently open drawers. If a window is selected, store the size, position, and position of Icons within, of that window. This would be neat. I could put icons in nice places in windows, and expect them to be there next time I opened the drawer. Since nothing like this happens... WHAT IS SNAPSHOT FOR. P.S. If the answer is obvious, and ANY amiga owner should know it, please reply by email - don't want to clog the net up with 100 identical 'it does X Y Z, you idiot!' replies. Keywords: Thanks to those who replied. Snapshot does what I thought it should. The catch is that one must SELECT everything whose position one wants recorded. One can do this using extended (shift Left mouse) select. I did this in a windo with about 100 assorted icons. It works, but is rather slow. P.S. I think that if you are going to put a help button on the computer, you should also put in some minimal context sensitive help. P.S.2 When is a between windows, within windows cut/paste buffer going to be implemented. I realise that there is a clipboard device. Why isn't it ever used? Even a simple minded, X type text cut/paste buffer would be nice. P.S.3 Finally got round to starting to play with programming the beast. One of these days I might even contribute something useful to the net. -- ==================================================================== Michael.Witbrock@f.gp.cs.cmu.edu US Mail: Michael Witbrock Dept of Computer Science Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh PA 15213-6890 USA Telephone : (412) 268 3621 [Office] (412) 681 3806 [Home] ======================================================== I took out the cute quotes.
